This sequence is an excerpt from the song, "Shin Takasago" by the 19th century Japanese composer Utano Terashima.
The entire piece is arranged for two kotos and voice. Since vocals are not possible with MIDI, the sequence comprises only the tegoto, or lengthy instrumental break in the song. Koto I (the honte) takes the lead. Koto II (the kaede) is tuned lower, and takes a supporting role. The track labelled chirashizume is for a playing technique where the plectrum is scraped lengthwise along a string.
This sequence is based on a transcription by Bonnie C. Wade in her book, Tegotomono (Greenwood Press, 1976).
This sequence uses the default pitch bend range. But if you don't play the file all the way through, then hit that old reset button anyhow ... just to clear other possible parameters which may affect how the next file is played.
